May the Fourth Be With You: Star Wars Weddings
Happy May the Fourth, everyone! As a wedding photographer with a love for all things Disney, I can’t help but get excited when couples incorporate Star Wars into their wedding celebrations. Whether you want to add a few subtle touches with a nod to your favorite fandom or have a full-fledged Star Wars celebration – a Star Wars theme can add a touch of excitement and personality to your big day.
Here are some tips for incorporating Star Wars into your wedding:
Attire:
Why not mix up traditional wedding attire with Star Wars-inspired outfits? Darth Vader cuff links, light sabers for the wedding party, and Princess Leia-inspired wedding capes or hairstyles are just a few ways to add Star Wars flair to your wedding look. Consider having a Star Wars inspired ring bearer pillow or choose dresses for the bridesmaids in shades of orange, brown, or beige to reflect the aesthetic of Luke’s home planet, Tatooine.
Star Wars Wedding Bouquets and Florals
You can add a touch of Star Wars to your wedding bouquets and include your favorite decor in your photos of your wedding details.
Incorporating Star Wars into your Wedding Ceremony:
If you want to incorporate Star Wars themes into your ceremony, you might consider having the officiant dress as Jedi Master Yoda. The bride and groom walking down the aisle to Star Wars music would perfectly keep the overall theme. To add a personalized feel, adding a line from the movies like “I love you” and the answer can be “I know,” which Han Solo and Princess Leia are famous for are a great way to have fun and honor Star Wars during your ceremony vows. You can even have a customized vow book!
A Star Wars-Themed Reception:
First and foremost, the music. Making a reception entrance with your wedding party holding lightsabers while John Williams’ Star Wars plays; will set the mood for the evening. You can ask your DJ to dress up for the part. You might also consider having Star Wars colors for your wedding reception or themed seating charts and table numbers as part of the reception décor. At the photo booth area, there could be a life-sized standee of Star Wars characters for guests to take pictures of and capture a moment. I’ve seen some fun signature cocktails named after iconic Star Wars moments and characters. And, of course, you’ll have to consider incorporating Star Wars into your wedding cake design!
Special Touches:
If you want a unique touch, why not create a Star Wars themed menu or cocktail bar? Designing the wedding cake with a “May the Force Be With Us” or a Death Star or Millennium Falcon shaped cake could be fun, to say the least.
These are just a few ideas for incorporating Star Wars into your wedding. Of course, each couple can display their individuality by adding their own touches to make their big day truly unique.
Whether you’re an avid Star Wars fan or just want to add a dash of creativity to your wedding day, incorporating Star Wars themes into your wedding can make for a memorable celebration.
May the Force be with you!
