Once upon a time, Rob noticed that Paula had viewed his profile on OK Cupid, although she hadn’t actually contacted him. Rob decided this was clearly a mistake on her part, and did the right thing and sent her a message.
Their first date began at the now sadly defunct Barnes and Noble in Jack London Square in Oakland for the Farmer’s Market. Even though they hadn’t agreed on where to meet in the store, Paula knew to find Rob in the Sci-Fi section, where he had already been browsing. Things kept getting better from there, and their planned “short date” turned into an all day tromp around the Square and over to Alameda for a vodka tasting at Hanger One. By the end, Rob had invited himself to join Paula and her friends at Bat’s Day in Disneyland, but I don’t think Paula cared at all. 😉
When Paula and Rob began planning their wedding, it was important to reflect their interests. Both really loved the old Tim Burton movies, especially Nightmare Before Christmas. Since the former spooky goths were both also pretty crazy about Disneyland, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and the Haunted Mansion, they felt Disneyland was the perfect choice. They tried Disneyland on a whim, thinking it would be out of their price range, only to find it was more reasonable than a lot of the local places they had looked at, and so the wedding planning began.
When I asked what they loved about each other, they said, “We love the way we complement each other and work so well to balance one another out and fill in the missing pieces.” One of the things they love doing as a couple, is traveling. For their honeymoon, they’re traveling to Japan, and have a trip to Tokyo Disney in store.
One of the things I loved about photographing their wedding, is how involved everyone was. All of their guests were on the dance floor the whole night, dancing away and having a wonderful time. You could just feel how much they supported and cared about these two.
I asked Paula and Rob to tell me what they love about being married. They wrote, “It’s not really any different in the day to day for us, but we were both really surprised by how much joy the wedding brought us and how looking at the pictures and slideshow can bring us right back to that sense of awe and happiness.”
After their wedding, we took a trip to the Haunted Mansion for a private Photo Shoot. It was the perfect way for Paula and Rob to end the night.
Congratulations again, you two!

Love the upward shot under the magician’s hat! So creative!
I’ve never seen anything like it, a beautifully put together wedding! The cake designer should get major props too- top notch!
I love Paula’s dress and accessories! They work so well with the rest of the decor. I didn’t realize DFTW started approving other locations for private shoots, but I think it’s awesome! They look great over by the Haunted Mansion and I’m sure it was a memorable addition to their most special day. Congrats to them!
Awesome wedding pictures the Best !
Much Happiness to you both !!!!!
Your pictures are simply amazing! Love this shoot with the Haunted Mansion!
I’m a HUGE Haunted Mansion fan, so that is totally epic! 🙂
Me too! We had a great time. 🙂
