Mini sessions are just as much for me as they are for my clients. They’re a chance to catch up and reconnect, and see how families have grown! Even if it’s just for a short window of time, it’s so special to me. This year was no different, and getting to photograph this family again was such a reminder of why I love these sessions so much.
I’ve been photographing this family since the very beginning, and I honestly can’t believe how big the boys are now. Watching kids grow through my lens never gets old, and during this mini session, I loved getting a glimpse of their personalities. The energy, the expressions, and the little moments that make each of them who they are.
One of the reasons I love mini sessions is because they’re short, lighthearted, and full of movement. Before photography, I taught kindergarten. During my first year of teaching I had a class with only four girls and the rest boys. I leaned into the energy, learned to connect quickly, and found joy in meeting kids where they were. Those skills come into play all the time during mini sessions. 🙂
We move fast, make faces at the camera, jump around, and let kids be kids. There’s no pressure to be perfect ~ just a lot of laughter and genuine moments. Sessions like this are a reminder that great photos come from connection, trust, and a little bit of silliness.
Mini sessions are perfect for families who want something relaxed, fun, and meaningful ~ even in a short amount of time.
