One of the things I love about photographing engagements and weddings at Disneyland, is learning about why my couples love it so much. For Valentines Day, I asked a few of my couples to share what makes Disneyland a special place for them for this blog post. I loved reading their answers. It helped me to realize that one of the things I love about Disneyland, is what a different experience it is for everyone. There are so many ways to enjoy the park. One couple might always stop for a Dole Whip, while another can’t visit the park without going on Space Mountain.
On a personal note, my husband and I used to love to challenge each other to see how many attractions we could go on in a day. We’d pack our lunch and run around the park like maniacs, going from one ride to another without ever stopping. Now that we have our son, it’s a completely different and special experience for us. We go at a slower pace, enjoy more of the shows, stop at the restaurants, and visit more of the characters than we did before. Our couple traditions have merged into family traditions, and it’s fun to see them change and grow.
Hope and Mike said they love going to Disneyland together because “it’s our Laughing Place where we can safely be ourselves without judgement and have an entire day of fun. It’s been the backdrop to so many relationship milestones. It’s where we shared our first dance, where we’ve celebrated many birthdays, where we got engaged and married and where we have so many fun times with friends.”
When talking about Disneyland, Molly and Evan said, “It’s special for us because Disney is something that we have bonded over throughout our relationship. It has brought us closer together and continues to strengthen our relationship. We are still building our traditions as a couple, but something we always do is take pictures and get autographs with characters. This has been something that while we were growing up, didn’t get many chances to wait in the long lines with our families, so being able to still be able to have the experiences and make the memories even as adults has been so fantastic to us.”
Jenny and Anthony said, “We had our first date there and we made our relationship official there too”. One of the things Jenny and Anthony love to do, is try all of the food places around the park. It’s fun to follow Jenny on instagram and see the fun treats they find around the park.
Jenna and Jacob said, “Disneyland has always been a huge part of our relationship, even before we started dating.” On her wedding day in the park, it was fun listening to her Dad share some of the shenanigans he got into at Disneyland during his teen/college days at the park. It’s a part of their family history, so it only made sense for her to have her wedding there.
I love Christi and John’s tradition of walking through the tunnel at the beginning of the park together. It’s such a fun way to start the day. And of course, they have to stop by and share a popcorn.
Happy Valentines Day, my friends!
Happy Valentine’s Day! <3 I love reading why everyone loves Disneyland as much as we do. <3
