I absolutely loved photographing Chris and Nicole’s Rose Court Garden Wedding at the Disneyland Hotel. Nicole was so sweet with her friends and family, and I loved documenting all the laughs and smiles they shared throughout the wedding day. Nicole and Chris officially met in their speech class in college. While Nicole immediately caught Chris’ eye, Nicole didn’t pay much attention to Chris. That is, until she found out they were competing for the same job as Resident Assistants. When they both got the job and began to work together, their relationship started to grow.
They both love musical theater and Disney, so they made plans as friends to see Beauty and the Beast at the Pantages in L.A. The car ride to the Pantages didn’t start out as a date, but while they were stuck in Los Angeles traffic, Chris confessed that he wanted to be more than friends. By the end of the ride, Chris and Nicole were officially dating.
Chris loves Nicole because “She is super smart and loyal to her friends. I love her dedication to her family and her ability to selflessly care for others. She isn’t afraid of being silly with me and she always knows how to make me smile. Nicole shared that “When the world is spinning out of control and I can’t seem to breathe, he has alway been there to be the calm. Chris accepts me for who I am and helped me to become a better person. He’s patience and his ability to be forgiving have always been qualities that I love. He’s intelligent, a huge nerd and kid at heart. Even when I am mad or sad, he still makes me smile (which is really hard for me to do).”
When it came time to propose, Chris worked with Nicole’s friends to surprise her. They went out for coffee and a walk on the Ellwood Bluffs in Goleta, CA. As they were walking, Nicole was amazed at how beautiful the site was. She turned to her friends and said, “Gosh this beautiful. This would be a great place to propose.” They were quick to change the subject! As the sun was setting during the hike, Nicole’s friend said it was time for a photo. Nicole noticed someone in the background of the selfie, and as she turned to see who it was, she discovered it was Chris with a ring in hand. Her friends became the photographers as Chris asked Nicole to marry him.
Chris is looking forward to the journey of being married. He’s sure it will be filled with lots of favorite moments and unforgettable experiences. He’s also looking forward to starting a family and traveling to new places. Nicole can’t wait to share family traditions and creating their own.
During the planning process, they quickly realized how much they complimented each other. It was important for them to make sure both of their visions were included in the wedding day. They even incorporated both of their favorite colors. Chris was great at working on the fine details, while Nicole was good at seeing the big picture. They had a knack for dividing and conquering tasks and trusting each other. By the end of the planning, they knew they made a great team.
Chris said their perfect day would be, “Making breakfast together and working on sandwiches and snacks for our picnic lunch. We would spend the day at the beach. Afterwards, we would go home and get ready to go out to dinner. We’d end the day by getting dressed up for a fancy dinner and then stargaze until we went back home to sleep.” Nicole added that Chris got it pretty much right, down to their love of food. 🙂
And here are some more of the photos from their gorgeous wedding day…
