One of the things that always makes me grin, is the fact that no matter who you are or what you do, you can’t help but smile when Mickey Mouse enters a room.
I was photographing a group with Mickey in front of the Castle for an event, and they practically ran to him and gave him a hug when they saw him. Mickey has that special knack of bringing out the child in all of us, and it never fails. During this particular photo session, we had everyone gather for a group photo after they’d all had the chance to meet Mickey. Mickey was standing next to me and dramatically pretending to direct the group with me. Once every one was in place, I put my hand on my chin and said, “hmmmmmm, I think someone in this photo is missing?!?” Then Mickey and I turned to each other and threw our hands in the air and we all chuckled and grinned and I said, “It’s you!” I guess you could say he was bringing out my playful side too on that day. I usually don’t get a photo with Mickey when I photograph groups with him because I want to capture everyone else and their reactions, but this time, Mickey pointed at me and my camera, and made it clear he wasn’t leaving until I took a photo with him. One of the Disney Cast Members laughed and took our photo, and Mickey gave me a kiss on the cheek. I smile every time I see it. In fact, I printed it and it sits on our refrigerator: a photo of me and my pal, Mickey Mouse.
Happy birthday, Mickey Mouse. Thank you for bringing smiles to everyone you meet, even this silly little photographer. 😉
