I was more nervous than usual because my family was there, and they hadn’t seen me work before. My cutie pie Dad kept reminding me to take photos of certain things. He would run up to me and say, “Don’t forget to take a photo of the cake!” And later, “Why don’t you get a photo of this program?” :p

I finally had to say turn to him and lovingly say in that whiney voice that you can only use with a parent, “Daaaaadddddddddd, I know what I’m doing!”

And then there was this little guy. I was nervous about having him around while I was working. We decided my husband would watch Theo for the day so that I wouldn’t feel distracted with momma duties. Whenever Theo would see me, he’d enthusiastically  shout, “There’s my momma! She’s taking pictures!”

I think he was my biggest fan, maybe I should bring him along to all the weddings I photograph? 🙂

I’m always very careful about how I behave during a wedding. I’ve been at many weddings as a guest, and decided long ago that I never want to be the kind of photographer who is obtrusive, I would hate to make the experience unenjoyable for the bride and groom’s guests. During Rob and Liana’s wedding, I was hyper aware of this. I was nervous about standing in the way of anyone during the ceremony or reception. I knew that if I did, I would probably hear about it during Christmas, haha.

When it was time for family photos, I had to laugh as my family became the most difficult group of people to track down and listen. I am glad though, that now I have something to tease them about over the next three holidays.

At the end of the day, my Dad came up to me and said he was proud of me. He couldn’t believe how professional my team was, and how hard we all worked.

I’ve had this said to me before, but it meant so much coming from my Dad. I was glad that he had the chance to see what I do, and why I love it so much, and that all of the work and time I put into my business pays off. It was very special to me.

Who knows, maybe when my Dad retires, he can come work with me and help me to remember to take photos of things like the bride, the groom, and the cake? 😉
